This week you will dive into digital circuits called latches and flip-flops. Flip-flops are a good foundation for digital sequential and counter logic circuits. Understanding inputs and clocking is very important. You will need to have a good understanding of how a clock input controls the output and the different clock triggering methods (active-high, active-low, and edge-triggering) are used.

Reading Assignment:
Volume #4 Chapter #11 Sequential Circuits (Read: Binary Count Sequence, Asynchronous counters, and Synchronous counters)  http://www.ibiblio.org/kuphaldt/electricCircuits/Digital/DIGI_11.html

Once finished with reading the assignment, be sure to check out the video below. The video is quit lengthy, but it does a really good job of explaining and walking through a J-K flip-flop. Not sure it could be explained as thoroughly in any shorter time frame.

There isn't a worksheet this week, but there is a Lab project under the "Coursework" page, this one pertains to a S-R latch.

You will also need to go back into the Digital Challenge this time to the tab marked "Type J-K Flip-Flops" and again you may do this exercise as often as you would like and turn in your best score for a grade. This one you might find a bit more of a challenge.
