This course develops students’ abilities as critical readers, writers, and communicators through the analysis and composition of a variety of texts and genres. Students will explore rhetorical concepts such as audience, purpose, context, voice, tone, structure, design, and medium while practicing writing for academic, professional, and public audiences. The course emphasizes reading, research, inquiry, drafting, revision, collaboration, and reflection as students learn to evaluate and integrate sources, apply citation conventions, and compose effective texts across contexts. Students will also strengthen skills in grammar, mechanics, syntax, and usage appropriate to academic and professional writing situations.
